Loctite AA 5885 is a fast curing customizable gasket sealer for automotive electronics applications. Uncured fluids have unique flow characteristics and can be efficiently and repeatably pumped to parts with complex shapes and geometrics. Once distributed, its rapid viscoelastic recovery allows beads with a high aspect ratio to be preserved during curing. Due to its UV-active chemistry, curing can be done in a continuous mode in a matter of seconds without the high energy consumption of ovens required by other solutions for similar applications on the market. In addition, parts can be assembled immediately after cooling. More importantly, the compression forces are kept within a wide deformation range, thus maintaining sealing performance at extreme temperatures (-40 to 150 ° C), while the material is soft enough to increase tool tolerances without over-stressing the part in any environment. The solution significantly reduces the ecological and production footprint by reducing physical production space and energy consumption. It also offers the best combination of structure and softness, providing long-lasting durability even when exposed to high pressure water jets, automotive fluids or the high temperatures of the environment under the hood. This new adhesive is designed for applications such as electronic control unit (ECU) module housings, battery packs, engine and transmission control modules, fuse boxes, actuators, sensing systems, ADAS control modules, and other electronic components. It provides very good adhesion to metals and most plastics. "With the proliferation of mission-critical electrical systems, automotive customers are looking for ways to minimize manufacturing costs while delivering higher lifetime performance and reliability," the company said.
